Dr. Gloria Hajat

Biography

Welcome Dr. Hajat to SAMS!

Dr. Hajat is a career educator with over thirty years of experience, promoting the success of students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She began her career as a science teacher in El Paso, Texas, where she taught science at the middle school and high school levels. She was a classroom teacher for nineteen years and has held several leadership positions. Dr. Hajat joined DoDDS in 1990 as a teacher at Giessen High School and then at Heidelberg High School in Germany. In 1999, she returned to Texas where she became a district central office administrator. She facilitated and presented numerous workshops to district personnel, campus administrators, and K-12 teachers to help raise the academic performance of students. Dr. Hajat worked with the Math and Science Partnership (MSP) for the PreK-12 Ysleta Independent School District and the University of Texas at El Paso PreK-16 El Paso Collaborative for Academic Excellence (EPCAE), where she contributed her expertise in curriculum and instruction to provide professional development at the district, state, and regional levels.

Prior to returning to DoDDS in 2010, Dr. Hajat was an assistant principal at a large Texas middle school for six years. She returned to DoDDS as the Science Instructional System Specialist (ISS) for the Isles DSO at RAF Feltwell in the UK, and then became the principal of the AFNORTH International PreK-12 Unit School in the Netherlands. When AFNORTH Unit School was reconfigured into an Elementary School and a Middle/High School, Dr. Hajat became the principal of AFNORTH Middle/High School.

She is fluent in French and conversational in Spanish. She holds a Bachelor's of Science (B.S) degree in the Sciences from the University of Texas, a Master's degree of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University.
